Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 27, 2026.
Last updated: October 27, 2026.
1. Who we are, what this policy covers, and how it fits with the Terms of Use
Choose Between (choosebetween.us) is run by Choose Between, LLC, a Colorado limited liability company. "Choose Between," "we," "us" and "our" mean Choose Between, LLC.
This policy covers the Choose Between website, every quiz on it, our email list, and the details we receive from people who contact us, including campaigns, advertisers and anyone asking for a correction. If you buy advertising or a data product from us, the agreement for that purchase also describes how we handle your account details.
Personal information means information that identifies you or can reasonably be connected to you. It does not include information that has been combined with other people's or stripped of anything that could connect it to you. We call that aggregated or anonymous information, and we may use it for any purpose, including the figures on the site and the data products described in section 6.
Our Terms of Use are a separate document and govern your use of the site. You agree to the Terms when you start a quiz or keep using the site after our cookie notice, and that notice also asks you to acknowledge this policy. The Terms include a class action waiver and an agreement to resolve disputes by individual arbitration (Terms section 21), and those apply to any dispute about this policy too.
2. The short version
- You can use Choose Between without an account and without telling us your name.
- Your quiz answers are tied to a random code in a cookie in your browser, not to your name or email, and we cannot connect them to you.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We do not use advertising tags or pixels on the site.
- We use measurement tools to track performance of how the site is used.
- Advertisers and sponsors receive counts of how their placement performed, never anything about you.
- Figures on the site and our data products are built from combined responses, never from an individual response.
- You can unsubscribe from email at any time, and depending on where you live you may have other rights, described in section 10.
3. What we collect, why, and how long we keep it
We collect only what the site needs to work.
| What we collect | Where it comes from | Why we use it | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quiz answers. Your answers to issue questions and how strongly you feel about them; your answers to the opening questions (such as age range, gender, relationship status and zodiac sign); and your answers to single questions you answer in place. | You, when you take a quiz | To calculate and show your results; to build anonymous totals and figures; to check that the quiz works | While your session is active and as long as needed to build anonymous totals, then deleted or made permanently anonymous |
| ZIP code. | You, when the quiz asks | To find your state, show your races and apply state-level weighting in your results | Same as quiz answers |
| Quiz activity. How long you spend on a question, answers you change, and which result screens you open. | Automatically, as you use the quiz | To improve the quiz and results, in anonymous totals | Same as quiz answers |
| Your results. Your compatibility results and the voter type your report describes. | We calculate them from your answers | To show you your results | Same as quiz answers |
| Session code. A random code stored in a cookie. | We create it when you start | To keep your progress and results together | Until the cookie expires or you clear it; the code is deleted with your quiz answers |
| Shared results. A result you choose to share. | You, if you share | To create what you share | Stored until we remove it |
| Email address. | You, if you join the list | To send the site updates you asked for | Until you unsubscribe, then only on a do-not-email list so we never email you again |
| Device and usage information. IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, the page that sent you to us, and approximate location (city or region) worked out from your IP address. | Automatically, through our hosting, our measurement tools, and our error-monitoring tool when an error happens | To run and secure the site, measure how the site, quizzes and placements are used, show location-based insights such as how people in your state answered, and find and fix errors | As long as needed for those purposes |
| Placement counts. Whether an ad or sponsor placement was shown, played or clicked. | Automatically, when a placement appears | To report counts to the advertiser or sponsor and to keep the ad records the law expects | As long as state and federal law requires |
| Messages you send us. Corrections, questions, privacy requests, legal notices, and anything you include. | You | To answer you and keep a record of what we did | As long as needed to handle the matter and keep a record of it |
| Campaign and advertiser details. Contact name, title, organization, committee ID, address, phone, email, signed statements and payment records. | You or your organization | To verify buyers, run ads, keep the public ad record and the records the law requires, and handle billing | As long as state and federal law requires |
What we do not collect. We do not ask quiz takers for their name, phone number, street address or date of birth. We do not collect precise location: a ZIP code or IP address shows only an approximate and not an exact area. We do not collect payment information from voters. We do not buy information about you from anyone.
4. Your answers and sensitive topics
The quiz asks for your views on public issues and policies. It does not ask about your own religion, health, sexual orientation, racial or ethnic origin, or citizenship or immigration status.
The one exception is the gender question, which includes "Non-binary" and "Transgender" among its options. Some state laws treat that as sensitive, so the question card tells you how your answer is used: "Your response is used to show match results and stays anonymous. Selecting an answer means you agree. Prefer not to say is always an option." We record when you agreed, and your answer is deleted or made anonymous with the rest of your quiz answers.
We know your views are personal, so we treat all of your quiz answers with care: we use them only to show your results and to build anonymous totals, including the aggregate insights in our data products; we never sell individual answers; we never use them for advertising; and we never connect them to your name or email address.
5. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- run the quiz, calculate your results and show your report;
- keep your session working;
- build anonymous totals, figures and statistics (section 6);
- measure how the site, the quizzes and the ad and sponsor placements are used, as counts;
- send site updates to people who joined the email list;
- answer messages and handle corrections, legal notices and privacy requests;
- verify advertisers and keep the public ad record and the records the law requires;
- keep the site secure, prevent fraud and bulk answers, and find and fix errors; and
- meet our legal duties and protect our rights.
What we do not do:
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not share personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising, and no advertiser or sponsor receives your answers, your results, your email address or anything else about you as an individual.
- We do not use advertising tags or pixels on the site.
- We do not use your results to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
- We do not connect your quiz answers to your email address.
- We do not use personal information to train large language models.
If we change how we use personal information, we will update this policy first.
6. Anonymous totals, figures and data products
Anonymous totals. We combine answers from many people into totals, such as how quiz takers in a city, state or region lean on an issue. Totals are never small enough to identify anyone specifically. They do not include personally identifiable information, and we may use the information for any purpose.
Figures on the site. Match splits, match counts, movement, charts, and the split shown after a single question are calculated from quiz responses and public data and may be delayed or incomplete. They are not polls, surveys or election forecasts.
Data products. We offer data products that show, in aggregate, how people use and respond to the site and its quizzes. No personal information is ever identifiable. Clients receive them under terms that forbid any attempt to identify anyone, and no personal information is supplied. Those products have their own terms.
Our commitment. We keep anonymous information anonymous and will not try to identify anyone from it, and our Terms of Use forbid anyone else from trying.
7. Who we share information with
We share personal information with service providers that help us run the site: hosting and database providers, website delivery and security providers, measurement tools, error monitoring, email delivery, and video hosting for sponsored videos and ads. Each one is bound by contract to use the information only to provide its service to us, to keep it secure, and not to sell it or use it for its own purposes. Our measurement tools are set up so their providers' advertising features are turned off.
We may also share personal information:
- when the law requires it, such as a valid subpoena or court order;
- to protect people and the site, when we believe in good faith it is needed to prevent fraud, abuse or harm, or to enforce our Terms of Use;
- in a business transfer, if Choose Between, LLC is merged, acquired or sells the site, in which case this policy continues to apply to information collected under it; and
- when you choose to share, such as when you share a result; anyone who receives it can see it and pass it on.
Advertisers, sponsors and data product clients. Advertisers and sponsors receive counts of how their own placement performed (shown, played, clicked). Data product clients receive anonymous totals. None of them receives personal information.
Outside sites and services. The site links to candidate websites, sources, voter registration services and advertisers' pages, and plays some videos through outside services. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Their own policies apply once you leave our site or play their video.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. Cookies
When you first visit, a notification bar at the bottom of the page tells you: "This site uses cookies and similar technologies to run the site, measure performance, and show relevant content and advertising. We share information about your activity on the site with analytics and advertising partners. By continuing to use the site, you agree to our Terms of Use and acknowledge our Privacy Policy." Here is what sits behind that notice.
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. We use as few as we can, in three groups.
| Group | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Keeps your quiz progress and results together and keeps the site secure | Until it expires or you clear it |
| Measurement | Lets our measurement tools count visits and show us how the site and quizzes are used, with their providers' advertising features turned off | As set by the tool, within the period we configure |
| Embedded video | Plays sponsored videos and ads through an outside video service in its privacy-enhanced mode | Set by that service only when you play a video |
We do not use advertising cookies, tags or pixels, and we do not let advertisers or social networks place tracking tools on our pages.
Your choices. You control cookies through your browser: every browser lets you block or delete cookies for this site. If you block the session cookie, the quiz cannot save your progress. We are not responsible for how outside opt-out tools work.
Browser signals. Global Privacy Control asks a site not to sell or share your information for targeted advertising. We do not do either, so there is nothing for the signal to switch off; if that ever changes, we will honor it. The site is not designed to respond to Do Not Track signals.
9. Email list
The email list is opt-in only. You join by entering your address in the footer and confirming that you want site updates. We send only what you signed up for.
Every email has an unsubscribe link. We honor unsubscribe requests within the time the law requires, usually much sooner. To have your address removed from our records entirely, use the Contact page; we keep only what is needed to make sure we never email you again.
10. Your choices and privacy rights
What we can and cannot find. We cannot connect quiz answers to a person. We have no way to know which answers are yours, individually, so we cannot find, hand over, correct or delete any individual's quiz answers. Clearing your cookies ends your browser's connection to them, and they are deleted or made anonymous as described in section 3. The personal information we can find is limited to an email address on our list and the contact details of people who write to us or buy from us.
Rights that may apply to you. Depending on where you live, the law may give you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of its sale or its use for targeted advertising or profiling (we do none of these), and to appeal if we decline a request. Where the law gives you these rights, we honor them as it requires.
How to ask. Use the Contact page at choosebetween.us and choose "Privacy" as the reason, or reply to any email we have sent you. Tell us what you want and the email address involved, if any. We may ask you to confirm a request from that address, and we use what you give us only to verify the request. An authorized agent may ask on your behalf with your signed permission. We respond within the time the law requires. We will never treat you differently for making a request.
Appeals. If we decline all or part of a request and the law where you live gives you a right to appeal, reply to our answer with the words "Privacy request appeal" and someone who did not make the first decision will review it.
11. Age
Choose Between is for adults 18 and older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete it. If you believe someone under 18 has given us information, tell us through the Contact page.
12. How we protect information
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections on every page, access to our systems limited to the people who need it, and separate storage for email addresses and quiz data. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot promise that information will never be accessed without permission. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
13. Where your information is stored
We store and process personal information in the United States. If you use the site from outside the United States, you agree to that.
14. Changes to this policy
We may change this policy at our discretion. When we do, we post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date, and the change applies from that date. If you keep using the site after a change takes effect, you accept the updated policy. We will not use personal information already collected in a way that is materially different from this policy without telling you first.
15. Contact us
Use the Contact page at choosebetween.us and choose the reason that fits. We read every message, although we may not be able to respond to every one. Any dispute about this policy is resolved under section 21 of our Terms of Use.
